After working together informally for two years Kuttner groups Technology Development & Construction Co. (Kuttner TDCo) has become the new valve OEM partner for Pi. Formed in 2013 from highly experienced staff our team has bid on various projects together and formed a technical and service support team for all new installations of TD Co equipment.
Pi will work proactively with Kuttner USA and Kuttner TDCo Germany.
Working as primary copper tuyere, cooler and plate supplier withs its long time customer TATA IJmuiden, Peel Jones report progress on a trial to further increase the longevity of the custom made tuyeres supplied there:
“6 Calorized Tuyeres on trial with them have been in the furnace for 160 days and are showing no signs of any problems” confirmed Director Peter Garner.
This protection system, already popular in North America complements the advanced glass casting system long used for TATA IJmuiden and unparalleled in delivering consistently smooth cooling channels. Ceramic and overlay options are also available and provided in various combinations to a long list of satisfied customers. As a leading primary & secondary supplier to most global steelmaker groups, the Peel Jones technical group continues to push product development as part of its Continuous improvement strategy.
EVERY CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING: More good news for its customers is that the current pound sterling exchange rate has weakened and thus translates into “the lowest dollar and euro denominated prices seen for many years” continued Mr. Garner. This allows existing customers to increase spares and standby stocks and for potential customers to run trials at greatly reduced costs.
As the only globally leading manufacturer to have continued updating and developing its cast COG gate valves AVK Donkin is now setting up a stocking program that will reduce delivery times and allow maintenance groups to replace valves, cheaper and faster that extensive repairs to 20-50 year old valves. Modern casting techniques and updated design functions such as steam cleaning and water sealing allows gradual replacement of old and fragile valves.
